Report on GB0CCF Activation

On Friday night the 21st May Arthur MM0DHQ and Peter MM3PCM took Arthur's caravan up to Cessnock Castle, and set up the antenna, a 40 and 80m trapped dipole.
The next morning we arrived at the Castle and set up the radio, the ICOM 706Mk2 G.

The Station activated at approx 10:20BST and ran till 15:20BST. After making a few calls on 20m with no response we made a QSY to 40m a total of 94 QSO's were made. Stations worked in mainland Europe, UK, Channel Is and Rep Ireland.

The WX was terrific with beautiful sunshine and a very warm 20+C

Operators were :- MM0DHQ Arthur, MM3GDC Graham, MM1LBA Allan, MM3PCM Peter and GM0FQQ Brian.

Our thanks go to the organizers of the fete for allowing us to put on the station.

Also there was a lot of interest in CASHOTA from around the country, so we hope there will be more Castles on the air soon!!!

We hope to activate GM001/C Loudoun Castle and GM003/C Barr Castle in the near future.
