and ends at 23.59 on 30th January, the RNLI's own SOS Fund Raising Day.

To take part you can operate as a team or on your own,

Story of life of
John Logie Baird
to be told in film

The story of TV inventor, John Logie Baird,
is to be made into a feature length film

One of the list of great Scottish engineers and inventers, John Logie Baird was the first in the world to demonstrate a working television. This was in January 1926 at his laboratory in London's Soho. Just two years later, he presented the first colour transmission. He also created stereo pictures and a form of video recording on disc!

The film is to to be based on the biography, John Logie Baird: A Life, by Malcolm Baird and Antony Kamm, and on over 10 years of research into John Logie Baird's life, which has added significantly to the knowledge of this great Scotsman.

One researcher wrote
"JLB was a quiet, driven, scientific genius who overcame extraordinary obstacles to achieve an astonishing 178 patents in a 20-year career that lie at the heart of every major technology you can think of."

However, we will need to wait patiently, since filming is not due to start until 2010.
