In the 1950s and 60s, we also used to have "ORM's", which stood for "Official Regional Meetings". They were held under the auspices of the RSGB Regional Management Committee.

I remember attending one at the Towan's Hotel in Prestwick, at which Charlie Callanan (GM3HLQ) loudly proposed a vote of no confidence in the catering staff. :-)

Prior to taking dinner, Father Nicholas O'Grady (GM3NEX) - being the only man of the cloth in attendance,
and incidentally the Hon. Secretary of the Ayrshire RSGB Group - was invited to "say grace". Very formal we were, in those days.
