Experimentl Echolink Node - MM0BFF - Isle of Lewis

MM0BFF has set up an experimental Echolink Node on the Isle of Lewis

Callsign: MM0BFF (MM0BFF-L)
Echolink node number: 351118
Freq: 145.2875Mhz
CTCSS: 88.5Hz
Power: 5W (licensed for 10W)

  • You will require a CTCSS tone of 88.5Hz before the system will react to you
  • System can be activated using DTMF tone: 2# which wakes up the Echolink module.
  • Now simply dial the node you want to connect to using your DTMF keypad/mic followed by the hash key e.g. 1234#
  • If you want to connect to a random link/repeater node dial 31#

So a typical node access would be:

  • 2#
  • 1234#
  • Call CQ etc
  • # (to disconnect when finished)

Please do not forget to disconnect. Most links will timeout if there is no activity but some do stick open.

Here is a summary of the codes needed:

  • 2# - Activate the echolink system
  • 1234# - Connect to a node
  • # - Disconnect or deactivate echolink
  • 31# - Connect to a random link/repeater node
  • 32# - Connect to a random conference
  • 1# - List all connected stations
Echolink operating procedure
  • When talking through a linked repeater it is generally accepted to wait about 10-15 seconds before calling in case there is a QSO ongoing.
  • Give a general call out something similar to: "This is MM0ZZZ
calling CQ, is anyone available for a contact?"
  • Wait at least 5 seconds between overs.
