This repeater has been operated for many years (originally along with GB3ML located on the Blackhill TV mast) by the West Central Scotland UHF Repeater Group.
Until 3rd August 2006 GB3GL was located at the STV HQ, Cowcaddens, Glasgow. With the move of STV to their new broadcasting centre in Glasgow media area on Clydeside, the ownership of this site changed and it became necessary to relocate GB3GL.
GB3GL returned to air on 25th July 2007 from a new site at Baillieston and on its new and current frequency.
